Setting up your utilities
Managing your utilities is an essential part of moving into your new home. Here's what you need to do:
Gas and electricity services
As a new tenant, you are responsible for managing the gas and electric services for your property. To find out who the electric and gas providers are, please contact:
- Meter Number Line (GAS): 0870 608 1524
- Meter Number Line (ELECTRIC): 0800 029 4285
Be sure to record the initial meter readings for both gas and electricity when you move in. You will need these readings when you contact the suppliers to set up your accounts.
If your meter is secured in a locked box, you can purchase a key from any plumber’s merchant, as these are standard fittings.
Please note, upon moving in, you may need to switch on the electric supply from the main fuse board if the electricity is not active. Our Lettings Officer will coordinate with our Gas Contractor to uncap your gas service if necessary. Please ensure that you provide access to your property for this service to be completed.
Water services
Each borough has different water suppliers. Please find out who is yours via Find Your Supplier | Water UK.
